Hemant demands to clear face of Mahagathbandhan in J’khand

Ranchi: Former Chief Minister and leader of the opposition Hemant Soren congratulated the Congress party for winning the by-polls to the Kolibera seat of the Jharkhand Assembly however he demanded that to prevent any further confusion among the people the face of Mahagathbandhan in Jharkhand should be announced as soon as possible.

Addressing a press conference here after Congress won the by-polls by a margin of 9658 votes Mr Hemant Soren said that since Jharkhand Party led by Annie Horo had played an important role in the separate statehood movement that coupled with regional sentiments Guruji had decided to support the candidature of Menan Ekka in the polls.

He said that since the beginning he had maintained that the official announcement of Mahagathbandhan should have been made therefore this confusion should not have been there among the parties. Mr Soren said that to remove the BJP and communal forces from the power all the like-minded parties and regional parties should form a Mahagathbandh which has been advocated by the JMM since the very beginning.

Mr Soren said that efforts are being made as to how in future the BJP can be removed from power in the state and to realize this goal a decision should be held as soon as possible so that there should be no confusion in future. He said that many meetings have been held but no official shape has yet been given.

He said that in this grand alliance all parties will play their role not a single party will be responsible however those parties which are in national politics need to play an important role. He said that as far as the regional politics is considered the JMM is standing strong however when there is talk of the nation given the point that the BJP is in power in centre and state and to strengthen anti BJP sentiments the national parties have to play an important role.

When asked to what transpired during his meet with Congress president Rahul Gandhi he said that talks which happened behind closed doors should not to be disclosed. He said that there no clear face of Mahagathbandhan in the state and still talks are on so soon the decision should be taken so that people of the state can clearly take a decision. He said that there have been many by-polls which the Congress and JMM fought in alliance and many separately and the by-polls should be seen as the real mahagathbandh face as people are independent to take their call.

He said that even party workers of the JMM were excited to contest the polls, but he wanted to prevent the division of votes and wanted to strengthen the regional parties so support was given to Menan Ekka. When asked as to whether the party has set a deadline for the Congress to announce the alliance he said that the issue will be decided in party forum.

On how many seats the JMM wants to contest in Lok Sabha polls he said that the organization was present in the entire state however many things have to be considered when in alliance but when there is no alliance than will fight all 14 Lok Sabha seats as JMM as a political party was active in all the 81 assembly seats of Jharkhand.
