Banking operations hit in the state following AIBOC strike

Ranchi: Banking operations across the state were hampered on Friday following the day-long strike called by the All Indian Bank Official Confederation as a result of which locks were found hanging outside all the banks. Outside many banks the officials were found slogan shouting in support of their demands.

The impact of the bandh was witnessed from the fact that across all the ATMs a long queue of people was witnessed. About 20000 officials and staff are participating in the strike in this bandh. The banks would also remain closed on December 22 being fourth Saturday of the months while December 23 is Sunday.

The banks would only open on Monday after which they would again close down on December 25 on account of Christmas and December 26 because of a strike called by United Forum of Bank Unions. The officials had called the strike in support of their various demands including wage revision, five days of work in a week, upgrading family pension, stopping selling of their party
