Babulal Marandi meet Bandhu Tirkey in jail

Ranchi: JVM(P) president and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi on Friday met his party’s general secretary Bandhu Tirkey who is lodged at the Hotwar jail in connection with a DA case. During the meeting party’s secretary, Saroj Singh was also
present. After the meeting which lasted for 15-20 minutes, Mr Marandi told the press that arrest of Bandhu Tirkey was politically motivated. He said that since Tirkey was very actively campaigning in the by-polls to Kolibera seat he was creating problems for others.

However, Mr Marandi said that he has full faith in the judiciary and was hopeful that Tirkey would be out soon. Bandhu Tirkey was arrested on December 12 from Banhora under Pandra OP of the state capital after which he was presented in the special CBI court of justice AK Mishra which forwarded him to judicial custody till December 15. Tirkey who has also served as a cabinet minister in Madhu Koda government was accused of amassing property worth more than Rs 6.28 lakh than his known sources of income.
