Giridih: A local court in this district has awarded life imprisonment to seven people in a murder case which took place in Balgo village under Jamua Police Station area of this district on January 1, 2012. The court of district judge (eighth) Binod Kumar Singh awarded the punishment through video conferencing to the convicts and also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on each of them.
Those who were awarded life in the case included Daso Mahto, Nandlal Yadav, Holi Mahto, Sukar Mahto, Kamdeo Mahto, Dinu Mahto and Mahendra Yadav. These men following a land dispute had murdered their step-brother Sukhdeo Mahto on New Year by attacking him with sword and other sharp-edged weapons.
