NABARD organises state credit seminar at project building

Ranchi: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) on Friday organised the State Credit Seminar at Project Building presenting macro perspectives on the present and emerging potentials in Priority Sector, the Rural Infrastructure facilities and
other support services (existing/ planned), to the Government, Banks and other Stake holders. 

During the occasion, Minister for Food and Civil supplies Saryu Rai emphasised upon strengthening of Cooperative structures in Jharkhand state. He said that after amalgamation, the Jharkhand State Coop Bank has become a single entity and they have to compete with the Commercial Banks in which PACS would play a pivotal role. He praised the efforts of NABARD for overall support to the Coop movement in Jharkhand.

He also opined that we need to have a ratio for Organic and Chemical based farming. He requested Bankers to have a proper assessment of credit flow amongst all stakeholders, so as to have a balanced credit distribution. In his welcome address, Mr Sharad Jha, CGM, NABARD Jharkhand, gave an insight into the methodology of formulating Potential Linked Credit Plans (PLPs) for all the districts of Jharkhand and the State Focus Paper, as well as, its significance for policy formulation in the state. 

He appraised the participants on NABARD’s assessment of Credit potential of Rs 23746.77 Crore for FY 2019-20 under Priority Sector for the state of Jharkhand. He also highlighted the major interventions of NABARD in Jharkhand e.g. Rs.1460 Crore assistance released to GoJ for Rural Infrastructure projects during FY 2018-19, a wide gamut of Farm sector and Non-farm sector interventions; support for various grass root level institutions; technology interventions under Financial Inclusion, Digitisation of SHGs (E-Shakti) etc.

The programme was also attended by Mr Siddharth Tripathy, IFS, Commissioner MNREGA cum CEO, Jharkhand State Watershed Mission, Swami Bhaveshanandji, Secretary, RK Mission Ranchi, Abhaykant Prasad, Chairman, Jharkhand State Coop Bank (JStCB), Vincent Lakra, DGM, SLBC and SB Jinnah, GM, Allahabad Bank.
