Chairman of Jharkhand Pollution Control Board participates in UN conference on climate change

Ranchi: Chairman of the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board A K Rastogi participated in the UN conference organized on climate
change in Poland. The programme was organized by the Ministry of Water Resources Government of India along with Ministry of Environment and Forest.

Mr. Rastogi participated in the panel discussion on the topic of water conservation using traditional knowledge and synergy between
climate change forest and water conservation. In the panel discussion, he highlighted on water conservation using foresty with special emphasis on converting upland or fellow lands into woodlots of fruit plantation under Mukhyamantri Jan Van Yojana. The focus was also on the construction of watersheds, dhobas undertaking massive plantation drives and silvicultural operation. 

In the discussion, stress was also accorded on the construction of check dams, the need for comprehensive planning and ga reater role for
forestry among others.
