Former State BJP president and ex-MP Laxman Giluwa passes due to Covid-19, CM & other mourn demise

Ranchi: Former state BJP president and ex-MP Chaibasa Laxman Giluwa passed away at the Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur battling Coronavirus.

He was 56. He was admitted at the hospital on April 22 after testing positive for Covid-19. Laxman Giluwa breathed his last around midnight.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren, State BJP Chief Deepak Prakash and Leader of Legislature wing of BJP Babulal Marandi have expressed their grief over passing away of Giluwa.

Hemant Soren said that late Laxman Giluwa was a very simple person and he will be always missed in politics of Jharkhand. He prayed to the almighty to rest his soul in peace and give strength to the family members to overcome the burden of loss.

Deepak Prakash said that with the demise of Laxman Giluwa an irreparable loss has incurred to the party.He prayed to the almighty to rest his soul in peace and give strength to the family members to overcome the burden of loss.

Babulal Marandi said demise of Giluwa is a personal loss for him and is an irreparable loss for the party. He prayed for strength to the family members of the deceased leader.

Laxman Giluwa was among the top leaders of the BJP in Jharkhand and had played a vital role in expanding the footprints of the party in Kolhan region. He got elected twice from Chakardharpur seat as an MLA in 1995 and 2009 while as an MP he had represented Chaibasa in Lok Sabha in 1999 and 2014. He had held the post of state BJP chief from 2017-2019.
