Health Secretary directs to cremate Covid bodies within 24 hours, 52 bodies cremated in Ranchi in a day

Ranchi: Health Secretary KK Soan has directed all the DCs of the state to make sure that people dying due to Coronavirus are cremated within 24 hours.

He said that at no cost in the name of pendinh reports the bodies should be kept waiting for their last rites. The Secretary has asked the officials to keep all the necessary arrangements ready for cremation of dead in their respective areas so that no problem is faced while performing the cremations.

On the other hand in Ranchi in the last 24 hours a total of 52 bodies of Coronavirus patients were cremated at Swarnarekha Ghat at Ghaghra in Namkum. DC Chhavi Ranjan himself was present at the spot till the wee hours of the day today to over see the cremation process.

The DC said that he had visited Swarnrekha Ghat late night yesterday with SDO Ranchi to ensure that the arrangements for the cremation of COVID-19 bodies is proper and timely. "This shall be functional till Harmu Mukti Dham is under works. Instructed the team at the site to follow all COVID-19 protocols for their safety. Please do not panic and staysafe," he said.

He said that no problems will be allowed to happen in cremation of the dead. He said that the district administration and Ranchi Municipal Corporation have made all possible arrangements to ensure cremation of the dead with proper arrangements.

The Ranchi Municipal Corporation had also deployed three teams at the spot to over see the cremation process. However the officials of the RMC are hopeful that the gas based crematorium at Harmu Mukti Dham will be made operational on Tuesday.
