Budget Session: Bill over providing 75 percent reservation to locals in private jobs sent to select committee

Ranchi: On the penultimate day of the Budget Session of Jharkhand Assembly the bill on providing 75 percent reservation to the locals in the private jobs got stuck and was sent to the select committee.

The bill was tabled before the house in the post lunch session by Labour Minister Satyanand Bhokta. However as soon as it was presented the MLAs cutting across party lines raised their objections on the various provisions in the bill after which Chief Minister Hemant Soren agreed to send the bill to the select committee which has been assigned to submit its report within 15 days.

Under this bill locals will be provided 75 percent reservation in private jobs however the rules will not be applicable on center and state run PSUs. Poriyahaat MLA Pradeep Yadav and CPI-ML MLA Binod Singh had demanded that the bill to be sent to the select committee.

MLAs from ruling as well as opposition parties made a beeline of objections over the various provisions of the bill. Pradeep Yadav said that though the bill was good but it did not mention as to how local social equation will be maintained in ensuring 75 percent reservation to locals.

BJP MLA Amar Bauri said that the bill has also not clarified as to who would be given priority in the jobs. He said that such were the holes in the bill that it was likely to meet the fate of Right to Education.

MLAs Ramchandra Chandravansi, Amit Mandal and others also raised their objections.
