Budget Session: Regional languages will be taught in all plus two schools of state, posts of teachers to be created

Ranchi: Posts of teachers will be created for regional languages in all the plus two schools of the state.

An assurance in this regard was given by minister Mithlesh Thakur over a query of Mandar MLA Bandhu Tirkey during the ongoing budget session of the Jharkhand Assembly.

The Minister said that even the vacant post of Urdu teachers will be filled and regional language teachers will be appointed in the primary schools of the state. There are a total of 3642 vacant posts of urdu teachers in the middle schools of the state.

Intervening during the question JMM MLA Stephen Marandi said that there are no posts for teachers of regional languages in the primary schools of the state. He said that when the regional languages are not being taught at the primary schools then there was no point teaching the subjects in post graduation. He demanded that at every level the regional languages should be taught.

On this the minister said that the government will undertake a survey over the requirements of primary schools and after that posts will be created and a call will be taken on appointments.

Over the lack of teachers in PG department of Ranchi University for regional languages the government replied that 29 posts for regional languages and 9 for tribal languages have been created in the university.
