Junior doctors call off their strike post initiative by Health Minister Banna Gupta

Ranchi: Following the intervention of Health Minister Banna Gupta the striking junior doctors of the different medical colleges of the state called off their strike.

The minister directed the Health Secretary KK Soan to hold dialogue with the association of the junior doctors and make sure that the strike is called off. Later the secretary held constructive dialogue with the junior doctors association after which they called off their strike.

The Health Minister said that the state government wanted to see the smile on the faces of the doctors so that at the end the patients also smile. He said that the government was sensitive and its intentions were also clear over the issues related to the people therefore he had directed the health secretary to hold dialouge with the doctors and get the strike called off.

He also expressed his gratitude towards the doctors for calling off their strike.

Over the issue of pending arrears nearly 700 resident doctors across the six medical colleges of the state were on strike over the last three days. Under the banner of resident doctor association the doctors had also stopped work in OPD and had staged demonstrations inside the hospital.

Earlier during the day in RIMS apart from the serious patients, general patients also got themselves treated in the emergency section. Over the issue during the ongoing budget session of the Jharkhand assembly the MLA of the BJP's had also protested outside the house.
