Drought hit farmers should get relief as soon as possible: Das

Ranchi (By our correspondent): Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das asked the central team which had come to the state to make an assessment of the drought conditions to visit the areas concerned and make a comprehensive assessment of the effects and soon submit their recommendations so that the farmers can be provided relief as soon as possible.

He also directed the Chief Secretary to make advance planning at micro level and work should be done in such a manner that in their next crops the farmers do not face any problems. Joint Secretary of the Union Agriculture Department Aatish Chandra said that the memorandum of the state government was received on time and is as per the parameters and soon a comprehensive report would be filed.Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi said that state government has demanded an aid of Rs 818.93 crore so that farmers can be given payment in grants and aid for fodder for animals, medicines and fish seed farms. Apart from that the funds would be also used to undertake work by the drinking water, health and water resources department in favour of the farmers.

Those present in the meeting included Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sunil Barnwal, Agriculture Secretary Pooja Singhal and others.
