Chatra: Police have arrested two smugglers along with 1.500 kilograms of opium and Rs 14.50 lakh in cash from the Rajpur Police Station area of this district.
Officer in charge for Rajpur police station Anil Kumar said that a tip off had been received that smugglers had gathered in Charu village for buying opium. Following the information, a police team conducted raids at the house of one Pintu Dangi and arrested the two smugglers with cash, opium and four mobile phones.
The police officer said that the arrested have been identified as Sanjay Dangi and Nirmal Mandal. However during the raid the mastermind Pintu Dangi managed to flee, he said that on a previous occasion also both the arrested had served a prison term on a previous occasion. He said that other members of the gang have been identified and they would be nabbed soon.
