Criminals loot jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh from Rani Sati Mandir Jamtara

Jamtara (By our correspondent): A group of ten criminals looted gold and silver diamond jewellery estimated to be worth about Rs 30 lakh from Rani Sati Temple located on the Jamtara-Dumka road under Jamtara Police Station area of this district. Police sources said that the incident took place in deep midnight when a group of 10 criminals beat up the priest of the temple and tied him up and easily left the spot after taking the gold and silver jewellery along with other valuable items from the temple.

The incident came to notice on Monday morning when some of the devotees turned up at the temple where they saw the priest tied and badly injured. As soon as the news spread a large number of people gathered at the temple and later blocked the traffic movement on the Jamtara- Dumka road demanding arrest for the criminals. Jamtara SDPO Vasishth Narayan Singh said that the police was conducting probe from all possible angles and assured that soon the culprits would be nabbed.
