Police Commemoration Day: DGP pays tribute to martyrs

Ranchi: Jharkhand DGP MV Rao on Wednesday paid tribute to the martyr policemen on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day and said that the day was the one where policemen should draw inspiration from those who laid down their lives in the line of service.

He said that the sacrifice of the martyrs will not go in vain. In a function held at the JAP-One grounds of the state capital the DGP paid his tributes to the eight jawans who were martyred in the last one year.

The martyrs included ASIs Sukra Oraon and Chandrai Soren, jawans Khanjan Kumar Mahto, Akhilesh Ram and Lakhindra Munda, home guard jawans Jamuna Prasad, Sakiender Singh and Sambhu Prasad Sahu.

The DGP said that on this day those jawans and police officers are being remembered who made their Supreme sacrifice in the line of duty while battling Maoists or maintaining law and order. He said that it was the biggest responsibility of the police to maintain law and order and peace in the society.

On the other hand, a function was also organised at the police lines where Ranchi SSP Surendra Kumar Jha and other officials paid tributes to the martyr jawans. Later the SSP also felicitated the kin of the martyrs.
