HC raps Hazaribagh police over slow probe in acid attack case

Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Friday expressed its anguish over the ongoing slow pace of investigation in an acid attack case.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujeet Narayan Prasad expressed their anguish over the slow pace of probe by Hazaribagh Police into the case. It also rapped the police for taking no action against the culprits.

The court has fixed October 19 as the next date for hearing in the case. On December 19, 2019 the victim a 13 year old girl who is a student of class 8 was forced to drink acid by the culprits while she was returning to her home from school.

The girl could not speak for two months and had to undergo treatment at AIIMS Patna and RIMS Ranchi and later she gave her statement after which under several sections of IPC and Pocso act the fir was registered at Ichak Police Station.

Advocate Aprajita Bhardwaj through a letter had informed the court about the incident after which the High Court took cognizance and started hearing in the case.
