Govt to launch Mukhyamantri Sukanya Yojana from January 1, 2019: Raghubar

Ranchi (By our correspondent): Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced that the state government would launch the
Mukhyamantri Sukanya Yojana from January 1, 2019 in the state under which girls hailing from 26 lakh families which have been covered under the social economic census would be benefitted.

Addressing a programme organized on the abolition of child marriages at the project building here he said that since the time of the birth of the child till they turn 18 the state government would timely provide them with financial aid for their social and economic development. The funds would be directly transferred into their accounts through DBT. The Chief Minister said that it is the priority of the state government to remove poverty, migration, malnutrition and child marriages from the state. He said that government, non-government entities and institutions of Panchayati raj should work in coordination so that the social evils in the society can be removed. He asked the self-help groups to launch a campaign against child labour as by creating awareness success can be achieved.

The Chief Minister said that most numbers of child marriages have been received from Godda, Koderma, Koderma, Giridih and Palamu and it was the responsibility of all to focus on removal of child marriages and stressed on the need to create awareness programme on large scale in this regard. He said that child marriage is not good for either girls or boys as it creates physical and mental problems. Mr Das said that child marriages leads to increase in maternity and infant mortality rate however in the last four years these rates have declined but more work was needed to be done and said that there was a need to completely wipe out child marriage from the state. He said that the state government was committed for women empowerment in the state and many schemes for their welfare have been launched and said that it was a priority for the state government to prevent drop out rate of girls from the schools. He said that many steps have been also taken so that girls can study further and said that women power has to be made power of the nation.

The Chief Minister said that in all the areas whether education sports and other areas the girls have made their name and asked the people to nurture their girls as boys. He said that mothers have a big role to play in stopping child labour and said that the women have a great responsibility to end social evils like inequality and illiteracy. The Chief Minister said that there was a need to remove diseases like anemia from the state and with the help of Unicef and other social organizations diseases like Anemia can be wiped out. He said that if these organizations if continue to work like this than there was no doubt that a clean Jharkhand can be formed. Those present on the occasion included Social Welfare Minister Louis Marandi, Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi, Development Commissioner
D K Tiwari, Principal Secretary of Education A P Singh and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sunil Barnwal were also present on the occasion along with Unicef Jharkhand head Dr. Madhulika Jonathan.
