Old inmates released from jail should be linked with government schemes: Hemant

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that old inmates who are being released from jail should be linked with government schemes.

He directed the officials to make sure that among the old inmates who are released from jail especially women inmates their special care should be taken. He said that they should be only handed over to their family members after due counseling of the kin and on regular intervals, their well being should be also inquired as it should be made sure that these people are not forced to wander from one place to another after coming out of prison.

The Chief Minister earlier chaired the meeting of the state imprisonment revision committee. During the meeting, a proposal to free 127 inmates was brought out of which it was agreed to release 79 of them.
