7 tonnes of explosive material seized by Godda Police

Gooda: Police has seized a vehicle carrying nearly 7 tonnes of explosive materials from Mahgama Police Station area of this district and has arrested a person in this connection.

Godda SP YS Ramesh said that from the vehicle explosives weighing 2.78 kilograms 2061 pieces, non electronic detonators 50 pieces each measuring 22 meters, non-electronic detonator 200 pieces each measuring 4 meters have been seized. A person identified as Sarfu Khan hailing from Katras of Dhanbad district has also been arrested.

He said that a tip off had been received following which a vehicle checking drive was launched at Mohanpur Chowk under Mahgama Police Station area. During the drive a speeding SUV and a truck following close behind were signalled to stop but instead of stopping the SUV fled while the truck was caught.

From the truck, a person managed to flee while another one was caught. The SP said that these explosives are mostly used in the stone mines, however, a team has been constituted which would probe as to from where these explosives had come and where they were meant to be supplied.
