Woman killed by wild elephants in Latehar

Latehar (RP Service): A woman was trampled to death by a herd of wild elephants in Dhamdhamia forest located under Garu Police Station area of this district. The deceased has been identified as Radhika Devi (55).

The husband of the deceased said his wife had gone graze cattle in the forest but failed to return after which on Wednesday morning they conducted a search in the forest during which her body was recovered. Later the villagers informed the police which sent the body for post-mortem to Sadar Hospital. A team of the forest the department which later reached on the spot handed over Rs 25,000 as immediate compensation for the family.
