All five bodies recovered from Mayurakshi River in Dumka

Dumka: Bodies of all the five people who had drowned in the Mayurakshi river under Massalia Police Station area of this district have been recovered.

The search team comprising the jawans of NDRF, local fishermen and divers had on Friday itself recovered four bodies while on Saturday body of a woman was recovered. The deceased has been identified as Arushi Marandi.

Four among the deceased were relatives which included Choto Rai Tudu alias Sukul Tudu (40) his wife Arushi Marandi (35), Arushi's sister Paku Marandi (30) and her one year old son Junas Hembrom while the fifth deceased was Mukhtar Tudu (50).

A total of six people were travelling in a Dongi in the river which got caught amid storm on Thursday evening due to which it overturned near Kathalia village. Among them one person Shivlal Tudu the gram Pradhan of Bada Chapudia village somehow managed to swim back to the shore and narrated the incident to the villagers.

Since it had gone dark therefore the rescue work could not be held on Thursday. On Friday four bodies were recovered while another body was found on Saturday. Later the bodies were handed over to the kin by the police after performing post-mortem.
