Govt committed to protect the culture and tradition of tribals: CM

Ranchi (By our correspondent): Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that his government was committed for protecting the culture and traditions of the tribals of the state. In an interaction with the various traditional heads of the tribal communities from Bokaro district at his residence here he said some foreign power are trying to destroy their culture which would be not allowed at any cost. He said that from January the religious heads who work to protect the tradition and culture will be given honorary funds while after consulting
the department concerned they would be also given identity cards.

Mr. Das said that the state government is of the belief that mother tongue is foremost and is being also encouraged and asked the people not to live behind their language, cultures and traditions. He said that from 2019 students would be also be taught Ol Chiki language in the schools for which the books have also come and the language would be taught in class 1st and 2nd and would be later extended to class 5th. He said that process was also on to appoint the teachers of regional languages in the schools and apart from Ol Chiki teachers of Mundari, Khudku are also being appointed. 

Over the demand of building in Rajrappa, he said that a three storey building is being constructed there where accommodation and food would be provided at a cheap rate. He said that in the next year’s budget funds would be allocated for construction of boundary wall of leftover religious pots. He asked the people to work jointly to maintain the culture and said that to save the people from religious conversions the state government has framed laws. He urged the intellectuals of the tribal community to create awareness about these laws among the people. He said that Lugu Buru has been declared a state level Mela and there a tent
city will also be build so that the tribals will not have to spend the nights under open skies and arrangements of water and power will be made.

He said that migration is a black spot on the state which leads to economic and physical exploitation of the girls. He said that it was his government which was working to stop the migration of the girls and was working to provide them with employment and the efforts are also showing results and tribal youth are being provided economic help so that they can stand on their feet. 

The Chief Minister said that some people are claiming that the state government will loot their land but in these four years not a single inch of land has been taken and alleged that those who have exploited the poor and have purchased their land at throwaway prices are accusing him and dared such elements to come with details of any property which he has apart from his home in Jamshedpur. He said that since 1995 he has been an MLA but has done no wrong while, on the other hand, he has the list of those who looted the land of the tribals and made property in the entire state. Mr. Das said that such people do not want progress of the tribals as they fear that when the tribals will get educated that would be not used as vote banks. 

The religious tribal heads lauded the efforts of the Chief Minister which according to them will strengthen the tribal traditions and improve the traditional administration of the villages. They also thanked the Chief Minister for according the status of state festival to Lugu Buru Mela.
