Deoghar: President Ramnath Kovind on Saturday offered prayers at Baba Baidyanath Dham temple located in this district.
The President reached the airport located at Kunda around 1305hrs where he was welcomed by Governor Draupadi Murmu. Those who were also present included Agriculture Minister Badal, Santhal Pargana Commissioner Arvind Kumar, DIG Santhal Pargana Rajkumar Lakra and DC and SP of Deoghar district.
From the airport, the President reached the Baba Mandir where he offered his obeisance and prayed for the well being and prosperity of the country. The priest of the temple performed the rituals for the President after which Deoghar DC Nancy Sahay presented momento and others gifts to the President on behalf of the Temple Shrine Board.
Ramnath Kovind is the third President to have visited Deoghar and apart from his country's first President Rajendra Prasad and Pranab Mukherjee have visited Deoghar.
In wake of the visit of the President in the entire state elaborate security arrangements had been made with Deoghar SP Narendra Kumar Singh himself looking at the security arrangements.
To ensure hassle-free movement diversions had been created in the road traffic movement and at many places drop gates and barriers had been put up.
The district administration had deployed security forces all the way from Airport to circuit house and had also positioned the jawans at high rise buildings. Even policemen were deployed in plain clothes while magistrates were also positioned at various spots.
